I got these shoes for my birthday. I recommend buying real boating shoes even if you never go boating because these babies will last forever. It’s about time I step up my game; I’m turning 23!

Natalie (http://nattyice123.tumblr.com/) is Ashley’s friend in Arkansas and she’s pretty much got down the essence of the joy of being a kid. In these pictures, she appears to have extended her youth into her college years, sporting hobbies such as riding her bike down the creek and wandering around the fields with her friends. She imitates the styles of boys her age (19) and younger with skate boarding shoes, t-shirts, and snapbacks; which to me is reminiscent of the simpler times in life. Times that I personally feel - and perhaps Natalie feels similarly - that I missed out on because I was too busy struggling with my sexual identity. It only makes sense that we long to get those years back now and recreate that innocence we didn’t get to enjoy.

But when you grow up listening to your female peers gossiping about Leo over lipstick while you nervously conceal your crush on Katie Morrison at the back of the classroom, you have permission to dress however you want.

In the opera world, there’s a term to describe female singers portraying the parts of younger male characters. The term is “pants role.” The best part about these roles is that the young male characters are most often trying to seduce or impress much older women, and in most cases, get their way. So for all you cougars out there, here’s my take on an opera tradition of Cherubinic proportions. Would Mozart be proud?
