Anonymous asked: First, I LOVE your blog. Second, my question (or should I say "qwestion?"): I have a pretty big chest (40D), and I'd like to find a bra that will "tone it down." Do you have recommendations? Thanks!

Thanksss! I did a flattening sports bra round-up last year that I think should help! Check out the comments too, as many folks had good additions (any hopefully more to come!)

Play Out Underwear… Let’s Kickstart This Shit!

Hayy ya’ll! I had a blast in NYC and I’m going to post pics soon. But until then I wanted to give a shout-out about this new queer-owned underwear company called Play Out. I met one of their founders Abby at the Dalloway and she showed me a pair. Touching it felt like laying in a bed of kittens.

“You find a lot of underwear for men that they have a bunch of different colors, cuts, shapes; fun things to wear! But for women it’s either too girly… or boring.” You make a good point, Abby! GOOD POINT.

They need to raise $50,000 by May 8 to produce these things sooo if you go to Kickstarter you can support them! It’s like pre-ordering your future comfort and sexiness.

Mass production when done right is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Cute and Colorful Sports Bras

Anonymous asked: I love my boobs, and they’re only a 36B, but I feel like in menswear they look HUGE! I’ve never had that problem before! I was thinking of switching to sports bras, but they tend not to be cute, and I like my bras to at least be pink or something (no frills, just pink haha). Maybe I’ll just get white sports bras and color on them?

I agree that cute sports bras are a good way to go if you want to not feel like you’re popping out of your menswear. A while ago we got some answers from readers about where they find cute sportsbras. Here’s what they said:

Anonymous asked: I love wearing boxer-briefs and would really like to be able to sag my jeans slightly to show off the waistband, like i've seen loads of girls do. My only problem is i have really big hips and if i wear my jeans below them i look really wide :( I normally wear skinny or tapered fit jeans and wondered if you have any suggestions on how to achieve this look?

A.D. says: I feel you on this. Unfortunately, people with vaginas sometimes have hips and waists, and sometimes hips can look wide in comparison to the aforementioned waist.

Here’s the deal: your body is your body. Hips and all. (And hips and waists and bodies are so wonderful and beautiful; I personally love it when people sag and I get to see their beautiful curves.)

Wanting to minimize hips/waist/female+feminine body markers is pretty common for those of us with gender dysphoria (or masculine-leaning ways or whatever). What I personally do is pull my boxers up, so they hit at my waist, and then sag my pants, so they still hit above the widest part of hips, so my hips are still minimized. Also, if you have an ass, sagging the front more than the back also helps with creating a more rectangular (than apple-y) body.

As for the fit, I think you should pull up the boxers and the pants, and see if that works. Because penis-wielding bodies often have fewer curves, they sag at their ass. Unfortunately, vagina-holding bodies have asses that cannot besaggedon sometimes. If pulling up the pants/boxers does not work, perhaps trying a larger pant size.

Other than that, perhaps consider yoursagging/perceived wide hips issue as insanely attractive to pleeeeeeeenty of lesbos/homos/queerz.

I Met Them on the Ferris Wheel…

Hannah, from Newark, DE wrote in, “I’m going to an outdoor carnival tonight! I wanted to wear something bright, fun, and just a little tacky. I paired this yellow and grey wide horizontal striped tank top with a pair of red, white, and blue plaid boxers and, to bring it together, my new favorite shoes. They were a gift from my best friend and I love them to pieces!”

I love this outfit. It’s bold and cute and just the perfect amount of pattern mixing! So impressed! Go babyqueers! And I don’t think it’s too tacky to rock any day of the week.

Flattening Sports Bras

Anonymous asked: Do you have any bra/sports bra recommendations? I find that sports bras that fit my (rather large) torso are not as tight as I’d like in the boob area, and normal bras, even t-shirt bras irritate me because they’re like “here, world, let me present this stuff to you!” Do you know of any bras that just hold things in place inconspicuously?

Under Armour Endure Sports Bra: Darla writes,”I am a lesbian with a HUGE bust and a very petite build, I have always had trouble hiding my bust to achieve a slightly more ‘butch’ look. I have found these sports bras made by under armor that work quite well. My real bra size is a 30DD (odd right?) but I buy the small C’s and they work quite well.I know a little on the pricey side but its a good investment and a good way to bind without injury.

Title Nine: I’ve heard several good reviews about Title Nine, but they discontinued the frog bra, which a lot of trans men loved. Autostraddle recommends their Booby Trap Sports Bra. Has anyone tried anything else from there?

I wear City Sports Under Armour Active Bras, but they don’t flatten me as much as I’d like.

Autostraddle has a huge list, but as it’s for everyone and not just boob-hiders, not all their notes mention the compression involved. They also recommend that you measure your boobs, but that’s the last thing I’d recommend for people with chest dysphoria. No need to put yourself through that sort of trauma; trying on sports bras will do just fine to figure out your size. Here’s what I found helpful (also prolled through the comments):

Champion Powersleek Sports Bra: Has a clasp so you can get a smaller size without having to pull it over your head.

Fila Sport Seamless Performance Sports Bra: Is seamless and will provide a smooth look under your shirt.

Freya: Lots of people say the love it, but none mention compression. Has anyone tried them?

Other tips:
Try getting a size too small.
Some people have recommended wearing two, others say that it’s not the best idea. Li commented on Autodtraddle’s post: “Two sports bras is not effective for reducing bounce and side-to-side motion (which a good sports bra will do), and it also makes it more difficult to breathe because your chest is constricted.”

Let’s crack the code on the best sports bras to flatten! Please comment!

Anonymous asked: Hey. :D I was wondering if you could recommend any shops which sell boy-style womens undies (with fly/y-front or similar) in cool patterns? Bonus points for TV/superheroes/comic-book themes! xD

We had some boy brief talk a while back (see underwear tag) and we’ve also got Autosraddle’s Boyshorts 101. But for you, my dear, I’d go straight to the boys’ department.

Check out the Handcraft Kids Underwear, Boys or Little Boy Five-Pack Justice League Underwear, available at Macy’s (pictured above) the colorful selections at Gap or Old Navy.
